HIKING & BIKE TRAILS INFORMATION
The following links are hiking and mountain bike trail resources we have gathered for the Prescott area. Our goal is to provide
you with the most comprehensive list for the quad-city area. If you know of other websites that would be of interest, or If you see
any corrections, or deletions that need to be made, please send an email with the web link or changes to
email@example.com to the attention of Shirley Atencio. There are also a couple of environmental resources at the
end of this page.
• Mile-High Trail System
The Mile-High Trail System contains approximately 68 miles of trails including Rails-to-Trails projects along the former Santa Fe
Railroad, the Prescott Circle Trail System, and the Greenways Trails System. The Prescott Circle Trail is a network of trails that
continues to expand, and which will eventually encircle all of Prescott. The Greenways Trails are urban trails along Granite and
Miller Creeks that run through downtown Prescott.
• City of Prescott TrekAbout Hiking
Treks around the Prescott area are held year-round, every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. during the summer
months and vary in length and difficulty. Walks are graded on a scale of 1-4 (with 4 being the most difficult). Hikes are lead by
staff and volunteers from the Prescott Recreation Department, YMCA, and Yavapai County Health Departmen. For information
call 777-1121. Effective March 12, 2013 membership is $18 a year and includes 2 weekly guided hikes and monthly calendar.
Hiking boots required, carry water, dogs must be on a leash.
• Over the Hill Gang – City of Prescott Trail Volunteers
The Over the Hill Gang is an all volunteer group dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Prescott Trail System.
Monday is typically reserved for Over the Hill Gang work projects, but special projects will occasionally be done on other days.

• Hike Arizona
This site provides you with an A-Z listing of Arizona hiking trails by region and/or location, and more.
• Prescott Hiking Club
The Prescott Hiking Club is located in Prescott, Arizona. Hikes are offered for all ability levels several days per week; we also
have camping trips, and periodic picnics and parties. Members live in Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, and other Central
Yavapai County areas. Dues are $5 per person, annually. Membership is open to anyone interested.
• Prescott Outings Club
The Prescott Outings Club, founded in 1975, sponsors three hikes each week from September through May. While these hikes
are principally in our lovely Bradshaw and Mingus Mountains, they may be as distant as the Vulture Mountains to the south or
the San Francisco Peaks to the north. Each hike is planned and scouted in advance and led by an experienced hike leader.
Each hike is rated on a scale from 1 (most strenuous) to 10 (least strenuous).
• Meet Up – Prescott Hiking
A free group for active people who want to get into/stay in shape, and also connect with nature and others through hiking.
• Prescott National Forest

• Highlands Center of Natural History
Spark your 'natural' curiosity with our volunteer Naturalists as they take participants on a journey throughout the Central Arizona
Highlands! Each FREE walk can be up to 1.5 hours long, though naturalists often adapt walks to participants' needs and
desires. Walks take place along the Highlands Center's trails located within the Prescott National Forest on Saturdays, and at
select City of Prescott Trails on Wednesdays. Please be sure to bring plenty of water, wear comfortable walking shoes, have
either sunscreen or a hat to protect yourself from Arizona's harsh sun and be prepared to have a lot of fun!
• Hiking Spree

• Yavapai Trails Association
Yavapai Trails Association is dedicated to protecting, preserving, and developing recreational, non-motorized trails. We are an
all-volunteer group that represents the interests of hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. We are a non-profit corporation with
federal 501(c)3 designation, and our operating expenses are funded by dues and donations. We are supported by many other
organizations and recognized by the City of Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Chino Valley, as well as Yavapai County, the Prescott
National Forest, the Bureau of Land Management, and the state of Arizona.

• Prescott Mountain Bike Alliance
PMBA strives to preserve, protect and promote mountain biking, trail access and diverse riding opportunities on Prescott area
public lands through community education, tourism, advocacy and unified action. PMBA is run by members and volunteers. The
more members and volunteers, the greater the influence we have with land managers and open space policy makers in the
Prescott area. Your membership will help us advocate for more trails in the area for you to enjoy.
